Hi there! I’ve been using CasparCG and Bitfocus Companion for a while, to playout videos and live graphics for a live podcast on youtube. Lately, I’ve been experimenting on controlling CasparCG Client via Bitfocus, sending OSC messages, and trying to receive some feedback on Bitfocus through the same method. I’m a bit stuck on that part, and I thought to ask the comunity, to see if someone has achieved a similar setup and would like to share his/her knowledge.
As far as I understand from CasparCG’s wiki ( FFmpeg Producer | CasparCG ), the OSC protocol allows to send some information on the current state of a layer, including the elapsed/total time in seconds:
/channel/[0-9]/stage/layer/[0-9]/foreground/file/time
I’d like to capture that information carried by the message, and use it to drive the text on my streamdeck Buttons, so I have a visual cue about how much time is left for my video to play out, instead of having to look into the client. I’m having a rough time figuring out how to achieve this, I really don’t know if I can make it work just with the Generic OSC library from companion, or if I should use available OSC variables in Companion, or create my own custom variables…
Has anyone achieved this inside companion and could point me out? I’ve seen some script projects that do the job similarly, but I’d like to stay inside of Companion, since my scripting / developing skills are very basic, lets say.
I’m currently running the most up-to-date versions of Caspar CG (server and client) and Companion.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!
