Note about the CasparCG Wiki

Hi all,

A while back we moved the CasparCG Website to a framework called Docusaurus. This is a popular tool among Open Source projects to document their products and for us it has meant a nice design update and automatic deployments from GitHub.

At this point I have also moved all the Wiki pages into this new website so please have a look. It is a verbatim copy of the old wiki just in a new colour and the old GitHub repository that used to house the Wiki is no longer used. I have added notices to all of the old pages so this should be clear enough for anyone still using that.

For adding / updating content in the updated wiki the authoring experience is largely the same as the previous wiki. All of the pages can be found in the casparcg.com git repository under the docs/wiki folder. You can edit pages directly from the GitHub Web UI or (and I recommend this) checkout the source code locally and write your updates in a nice text editor. If you’re familiar with node.js you’ll can run a local copy of the website to preview your changes directly but this is not a necessary step.

For now, after making your changes you have to create a PR against the main branch which will be merged by one of the maintainers. I don’t expect too much traffic but if this ends up being a bottle neck we may set up some automations to merge updates to the Wiki more quickly or add more maintainers.

And if I still have your attention I’d like to point out that the wiki contains many old articles referring Flash workflows and old workflows (like replacing AirSend.dll). At some point I’d like for these to be (re)moved but I don’t want to do anything without community support for doing so. If you have any opinions about this, now would be a good time to voice them!

Thanks for the good work. It’s also much more clearer with the menu on the right.

I think we could at least mark the Flash related parts to be old and soon to be removed. Or are there still people around, that regularly create new templates in Flash?
