I just discovered CasparCG and wanted to build a “Cinema like” endless stream for my Home cinema.
I though about using 2 Input streams, where one is a loop/splash screen video, and the second input is a video/stream.
Input 1 (Splash screen) should permanent played.
When input 2 is “available”, the splash screen video should fade out, and input 2 should be displayed.
So basically a video mixer with 2 inputs and 1 output.
Is this possible with CasparCG?

„Input 1“ can be a video looping inside Caspar, so no need for a physical input. What is „Input 2“? A SDI signal coming in? Or also a video clip?
My bad, that was a bit to unspecified.
With Inputs i mean media files, e.g. mp4 or mkv videos. (Or maybe in the future another stream)

Ok, I see. With Caspar both is possible, playing video clips or showing inputs. So to do, what you want is very easy. You can, for instance, play the loop on a layer above the other video and use a MIXER effect to fade it out, to reveal the other clip. Many other scenarios are also possible.

May i ask how/where to start (beside the installation)?
I tried it yesterday quick on my Ubuntu 23.10, but couldn’t get it installed due to unresolveable dependencies. So i have to test it on my Windows installation on my Workstation.
Download also the official client and play around with it. Use help to learn the concepts and tricks. After a while you get used to it and figure out how to go further.
For linux installation help refer to (or start) another tread. There are linux guys around (I don’t belog to them).
For running on ubuntu, we only support the ubuntu LTS releases. It will probably work on others, but you will likely have to build it yourself to get the dependencies happy.
I would recommend using the 2.5 beta releases, which provide some nice new deb packages Index of /builds/CasparCG Server/master

To get it started and comfortable with casparcg i just installed it which was pretty straight forward with a couple of youtube videos.
On “production” i want a Linux OS and will give it another try, when i have a working PoC.
For now, i got a very basic setup with layers & effects
Top left corner is Big Buck Bunny with transparency etc.
The main vode also looks good.
But i could not get the “Splash Video” (Big Bug Bunny) in a loop.
Even when i have enabled the checkbox “loop”:
