is there a way for caspar cg to play random videos from a folder but always between these videos it plays a video from a second video (like a ad bumper between the randomness)

One would need to write a client to do that. CasparCG server is only doing what a control client tells it to do.

AFAIK no. There is a list of a few known clients [here](https://github.com/CasparCG/help/wiki/List-of-clients-for-controlling-CasparCG). What would be the use case for such a client?

Bump - hi all, I’m a little surprised there isn’t more interest in this aspect.

To answer the question from didikunz, a shuffle/random function would be useful in automating a channel, for example a music channel, to eliminate the need of creating a new 500-video playlist each day in order to keep things fresh for the viewer.

Any hints on how to achieve this with casparcg? SuperConductor lets you create a playlist and loop it infinitely, but doesn’t let the playlist have any dynamic parts. It does let you select the order of files when batch-adding them (name descending, date ascending, etc), so adding a “random” option there would be useful for a start, although it would still mean creating a new playlist manually every day.

Ideally, it would work something like the clockwheel system from radio automation programs such as Sam Broadcaster - letting you sort your media into a few categories (Dance, Rock, Jingles, Top40…), so you can create a dynamic playlist: “play 2 of the least recently played Dance songs, then a Jingle, then 2 of the least recently played Rock songs, then a Top40 hit”, and just loop that algorithm infinitely whenever you don’t have a specific playlist ready.
